We have been doing lots of work on our fine motor skills throughout the year. Every day, we do some fine motor tasks, including using peg boards, colouring, tracing, slotting, doing puzzles and practising life skills such as opening/closing zips, buttons and buckles.

We have had lots of fun over the last few weeks, with lots of play in our classroom - sensory play, play on yard, playing with toys. A special thanks to one of the teachers in our school, Ailish, who donated some toys to our classroom - they were a big hit! We enjoy water play in Orla's class. One day, we put on our waterproof gear and enjoyed some really fun water play; we walked through buckets of water which were laid out in a pattern - hot water, cold water, hot water etc. It was great fun! We also got a delivery of some new toys and learning resources... but our favourite part was playing with the box!
We have some new musical instruments in our class. Each week during Circle Time, we are trying out a new one. This week, we tried the xylophone - we loved it! Aren't we super musicians!?
Our class really enjoys being outdoors in the fresh air. We have two yard times every day, where we do some running, cycling, scooting, chasing, play with bubbles, walk; whatever we feel like each day. One day, we went outside and found our yard was covered in white! It was a very light snow - not enough to make a snowman, but we liked exploring it and feeling how cold it was! We have also been trying to get out and about around our school a little more. We have gone on some short walks around our campus, ending with a run on the basketball courts, where the older children in our school have their yard times. We loved it and can't wait to do some more exploring soon.
We got a surprise one morning when we arrived to see our sensory play tray was full of rice! We liked exploring it - what it feels like, how it pours, the sound it makes... and how it bounces everywhere when it spills!
For the last day of term, our Student Council organised a pyjama and movie day for the whole school. Orla's class got nice and cosy to watch some Peppa Pig together. It was a lovely treat! Our school value for the month of November is 'Inclusive'. We have been working hard to include one another, particularly during our play times - sharing a toy, sharing in a game, sharing an activity or area. Have a look at some of the lovely sharing we have been doing! We have also been working on our turn-taking skills every day at Circle Time. This week, we all waited for our turn to use the concertina - we loved it!
This week, we had lots of fun on yard - we tried out the parachute for the first time! It was a great addition to our yard time!
We are so thrilled to be back at school! We have had a super two weeks being back at school. We have had lots of fun and have welcomed two new pupils to our class. Have a look at what we have been getting up to!
Today was a very special day in Orla's class - we had our first ever graduation ceremony! Two of our pupils are moving to their new school in September, so we decided to celebrate the year we have had together. What a brilliant group!
