Welcome to our classroom!
We wanted to show you around our classroom, so that you can learn a little bit more about what our day looks like and what we get up to in school.
Our classroom
In our classroom, we have two main tables, with space for all 6 children at each. One table is our lunch table, where we eat together every day. The other table is our work table, where we do any activities that have been planned for that day.
Comfort room
Within our classroom, we have a smaller room which is our comfort room. In here, we have a bed with pillows and blankets, a huge cocoon beanbag, a nice dark tent and some colourful and calming lights. We can go to the comfort room for a break from the classroom and to chill out. The floor is also covered with mats, so we can even lie down there if we wish!
Our schedules
We are just starting to use our schedules in school. When we get used to them, our schedule will help us to know what we are doing for the day. The schedule keeps us on track and helps us to be aware of what is coming up next in our day.
At the moment, we are learning to use certain pictures: yard, lunch and trampoline. These are some of our favourite things to do and we are starting to recognise what some pictures mean.

Central Activity Space
We have started to use our central activity space - this is a large area outside our classroom, which is just for our class and Claire's class to use. It is full of fabulous resources, including a large and small trampoline, a climbing frame, a balance board, a sand tray and lots of toys. This area even has soft flooring, so that even if we fall, we will have a soft landing! We love it out here!
Soft Play area
As well as having an indoor play area all to ourselves, we have a wonderful outdoor play area that's also just for us and Claire's class. The soft play area is fully enclosed and it has lovely soft ground for us. It is ideal for us to practise using our scooters and balance bikes. We also have a slide and play house to use when we are outside. We have lots of fun running and playing games together in our soft play area.
OT room
The OT room is a purpose built room where we can go to do some exercises and receive the movement that we need to help us to concentrate and stay regulated. It is fully padded and has some equipment for gross motor skill development also. We visit the OT every day with one of our ANAs.
Interactive Whiteboard
We have an interactive whiteboard in our classroom, which we really love. We enjoy listening to music and chilling out in our rocking chairs. It will also be fantastic for circle time and for joining the rest of the school at our Zoom assemblies.
We are getting the board lowered to a better height for us, so that over time, we can learn to use the board for some games and motor skill development too.

Book area
Our library area has some books, a bubble mirror, a nice beanbag... but best of all - a spinny chair! This chair gets lots of use every day - we love to spin really fast in it! Our library corner is a really nice area and we can't wait to add some lovely picture books to our collection throughout the year.
Arrival and dismissal
When we arrive to school in the mornings, we walk in the main door of the school, past Nicola's office, past the lift, past the central activities space and past Claire's class to get to our own classroom. We hang up our bags and coats at our own area and then we always wash our hands!
We hope you enjoyed getting a look into our very own wing of the school building, with all of our wonderful resources.
We are really close to having our sensory room finished, which we can't wait to show you too! Our schedules will continue to fill up each day, with lots of group work activities (matching, sorting, fine motor skills work) and 1:1 teacher work too. Stay tuned for updates from our class on our News page.
